Evelyn And Roslyn by Phangirl-Annie

The ghost-looking Evelyn smiled at me, and put her hand out. I blinked and reached out for her hand, but she disappeared. "What, no.. Come back.. Wait.." I sat back down properly. I definitely saw her. Sure, I had a few drinks earlier, but I was not imagining that. That was her. Standing right there..

I whipped my head around as I heard the front door open. Ellie and Carrie came in. I groaned whilst they couldn't hear me, wanting to be alone. I stood up and then, it happened again. I was face to face with the ghostly Evelyn. She smiled and reached out for me again with her hand, and I reached forward to touch her. Then I blinked, and she disappeared.

"Erm, Roslyn.. What the hell are you doing?" Carrie looked at me as if I was some grotesque peasant.

"I saw Evelyn.. She was standing.. Right there in this doorway.. I saw her. She was there." I said.

"Roslyn, you've gotten way too drunk-" Carrie started, but I interrupted her. "No, she was there. I swear. She was standing right there.."

"But Roslyn, Evelyn's been dead for 4 years.." Ellie said, her voice trailing off.

"I saw her, you damn idiots! She was right there! I saw her! She was there.." I cried.

"Go get some rest, Roslyn. You're seeing things. Get some rest, and you'll feel better." Carrie stormed sternly, not taking her vicious brown eyes off me. I grumbled and ran upstairs into my bedroom. She was right there.. I thought to myself. I felt darkness began to surround me as I slumped onto my bed, the hands of restless sleep grabbing after me...

"You promised you wouldn't leave. You promised you'd stay. That you'd help me get through this hell hole that's my life."

"I didn't leave."

"You did. I watched you go. Watched you smile as if it's alright."

"I never left."

"Roslyn. Roslyn! ROSLYN!" I leaped up, shaking my head around. To my suprise, I saw Ellie, the nicer of my two roommates, sitting next to me. "Roslyn, you were shouting and murmuring.. Are you okay? You look pale. It's almost like you've seen a ghost or something." She said, trying to comfort me and put my arm around me.

But I have seen a ghost, Ellie. You just won't accept it because Evelyn died and ghosts aren't real.

"Dinner's downstairs in the fridge if you want to re-heat it. You've been out of it for almost 6 hours. You must be hungry. I'm going to carry on watching TV. Feel better soon. Oh, and don't tell Carrie about this please. She'll kill us both." Ellie snickered. I managed a half-hearted smile in return, but it quickly ceased when she disappeared out of my door. Sure, Ellie was nice but she'll never fill the void in my soul. She'll never piece up the broken pieces of my heart. She can read me like a book, but she doesn't understand every single word. Only one other person knows that much.

I decided that dinner could wait, and I just laid on my bed, staring at my white ceiling, counting all the lumps from where it was painted roughly and was most likely rushed. Yet again I felt the darkness edging towards me, threatening to rip me out of reality. I tried not to fall asleep again best I could. I keep having horrible dreams. Some of them aren't horrible, but they just pain me. Hurt me more than a sword to the heart.

I got off my bed and walked to my door, shutting it behind me. I crept downstairs, not wanting the others to hear me. I left a note on the inside of the front door. I had no idea what to write, so I just put:

Gone to get some fresh air. Be back later. ~R

Oh well, it'll do. I stuck the sticky note on the inside of the door and rushed out of the apartment, down the many flights of stairs and through the main door.
